Namibia is an all-year destination, depending on what you’d like to experience. The dry season (May to October) is the peak travel period, with higher prices due to optimal wildlife viewing and cooler temperatures. However, the shoulder seasons (April and November) can offer more affordable rates, with the added benefit of fewer tourists and the possibility of lush landscapes after the rains.

As a general guideline, we recommend about $20 per person per day for your guide and $20 for general staff (porters, cooks, cleaners, waiters, watchmen, etc.). Some lodges have an anonymous tip box for all their staff, but you’re also welcome to give a gratuity directly to the person who helped you.

Visas and Vaccinations

There are currently no vaccinations required to enter Namibia, and be sure to check for related information depending on your nationality, including whether you have visa-free access. Most nationalities, including those from the UK, USA, and Canada, need a visa to enter Namibia.

While malaria risk is generally low, it’s important to note that there is a high risk in the northern and northeastern regions of the country, including Omaheke, from November to June. There is low to no risk of malaria in all other areas, including the Skeleton Coast.
