Wildebeest Migration herd found grazing near Maswa Game Reserve

This herd was seen grazing in the plains between Maswa Game Reserve and Makao in Tanzania’s southern Serengeti. While herds generally move in a clockwise direction, the exact path and timing of different groups can vary depending on localised rainfall and grazing conditions, making it very unpredictable.

Wildebeest spotted crossing Lake Ndutu!

This beautiful moment was captured along the shallow edge of Lake Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania, where a herd of wildebeest is seen crossing the lake.

They are accompanied by a few pink flamingoes, who were no doubt surprised to see them there. The Great Wildebeest is one of the most magical spectacles on earth, which sees huge herds of wildebeest as they continuously journey across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in search of fresh grazing land and water.

Lion surprises unlucky sleeping wildebeest in the Maswa Game Reserve!

See how a lion sniffs out a wildebeest who is hiding in the bushes. He manages to almost immediately catch the wildebeest and keep it there for his brother lion as they enjoy an easy meal. This is just one of many predators wildebeest have to watch out for if they become isolated from the larger herd. This kill was spotted in the Maswa Game Reserve.

Herd spotted in the Maswa Game Reserve!

A huge herd was spotted near the northwest area of the Maswa Game Reserve. These wide-open plains offer a perfect grazing spot for the wildebeest and their calves before they continue on their migration route. During January and February, more than 1.5 million wildebeest cross into the Maswa Game Reserve, which is situated to the south of the Serengeti and the west of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Newborn calf finding its feet in the Maswa Game Reserve!

A calf took its first steps in the Maswa Game Reserve. Wildebeest calves need only a few minutes to find their feet and begin to walk almost immediately after birth. These calves must quickly learn to run to keep up with the larger herd as they continue their journey on the migration route.
