Cape Town, Safari and Community Development

Chrizaan was wonderful. She took our requests to heart and created a once in a lifetime trip for us. The transportation was arranged flawlessly and the safaris were breathtaking. We saw so much and did so much but it didn’t feel rushed. I would recommend Chrizaan 100%. It was a truly amazing trip.

Africa was on my travel “wishlist” but I never thought I would actually get there

That all changed when our son was home for a visit over Christmas. He announced that he and a friend were going to Africa. They had selected DISCOVER AFRICA to plan their trip. He shared all the details with us and we decided it was an adventure we had to experience as well.

Our son connected us with Vihann Van Wyk at Discover Africa, the same agent he was using. Vihann was a pleasure to work with. He coordinated our trip with our son’s and tweaked the details as requested. Communication was a breeze through both email and WhatsApp. Vihann made suggestions as well as accepted specific requests from us to build a custom itinerary. No detail was overlooked. Some accommodations were adjusted to keep us within budget without sacrificing our experience.

All drivers, tour guides, experiences & lodging did not disappoint. All internal flights were on Airlink …. better than some regional airlines in the USA. The weather was perfect too!

Deborah's Safari Experience

Our itinerary included:

*CAPE TOWN – Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel….very nice property with an excellent breakfast and beautiful outdoor dining. Must sees were the full day Cape Tour, Wine Tour to Stellenbosch, Table Mountain and High Tea at the Cape Grace Hotel.

*KRUGER NTL PARK – Lion Sands Tinga Lodge….a dream experience! Excellent private bungalow, twice daily game drives, delicious food, and a wonderful massage and facial at the spa. The staff was outstanding.

*VICTORIA FALLS – Shongwe Lookout Lodge…a modest property that met all our needs and saved us some money. We experienced the Zambezi River sunset cruise, Victoria Falls ( incredible!! ) , lunch at the Lookout Cafe and a visit to the historic Victoria Falls hotel for lunch.

*JOHANNESBURG – Marriott African Pride Hotel in Melrose Arch ….an upscale area with lots of shopping and dining. The Soweto Tour was an experience not to be missed. We visited Nelson Mandela’s office and home. The Apartheid Museum was sobering and moving.

Lastly, every where we went we met the nicest people….friendly and helpful.

Excellent adventure! An experience like no other!

We just returned yesterday from our Discover Africa honeymoon trip booked by Susan. It was amazing from start to finish. We started out in Cape Town; we visited Boulders Beach, v&a waterfront for the boat rides, etc., and some shopping. The hotel Susan picked was located in the perfect spot, right near many restaurants, and to travel we used Ubers, which all in all was very cheap to use.

Our next stop was Kruger National Park, which was by far my favourite part of the trip. Lion Sands Tinga Lodge was our stay, and the 2 daily game drives were amazing. Even though it was an early start, it was all worth it for what animals we saw, and no game drive was the same. Our last stay was in Victoria Falls. The hotel was amazing, and the views were amazing.

The only downfall of that part was you couldn’t take a walk, etc. out of the hotel due to animals roaming, so you could only use taxis or shuttles, which could end up expensive, and being on a bed and breakfast basis ended up being expensive when buying food at the hotel.

But other than that, all in all, the whole stay was incredible and a once in a lifetime experience. We say we will be back in the future with our children when they are older. Also, Susan was amazing whenever I needed help to sort anything out. Currency/booking my flights, etc., so I made sure we booked the right ones. Thank you again!

Chelsea's Honeymoon Safari Experience

We had a great week on safari and all the arrangements worked well. There was a problem with our hotel in JNB when we arrived the evening before we left on safari and Adelle Bell answered our call and fixed it quickly even though it was outside working hours.

Matthys was the Travel Expert that was our “concierge” for the 10-day safari and Capetown tour in late June. We had numerous Zoom calls to iron out the itinerary, places to stay and recreational activities (local tours, golf, etc). Matthys was attentive and listened to what we wanted from the holiday. He curated a wonderful experience that we will cherish. Despite numerous travel delays due to the airlines on our round trip from Los Angeles to South Africa, Matthys was prompt in responding to texts/WhatsApp and made the necessary adjustments for airport pickup or changing in-country travel reservations. The game lodge at Arathusa (at Kruger) exceeded our expectations – it was a 5-star experience. The Capetown wine country tour with a stay at Babylonstoren was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to Matthys and Discover Africa for organizing such a hassle-free and wonderful holiday!!!

I discovered Susan Swanenpoel @ Discover Africa Group whilst getting quotes for a short safari for 4 people. Her quote was the most competitive, with the most luxurious lodge and comprehensive travel and advice. Due to issues with airline, she then had to rearrange our transportation which she did late into the night and weekends.

Once we arrived at Becks Lodge we were treated to the most stunning facilities, the rooms and views are beautiful and the food was as good as a top restaurant. The game drives were AMAZING and we saw the big 5 multiple times. Throughout the trip Susan kept in constant contact to make sure we were ok .

From the moment I stumbled across the website with the multitude of fabulous safari options I have been amazed at the service provided. In an age sadly when online tourism booking can be a minefield we had the best advice and care for our trip.
