This holiday will take you from the seaside city of Cape Town to the African bushveld of the Kruger National Park. You'll soak up the Mother City's attractions, from Table Mountain and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens to Cape Point and the African penguin colony at Boulder's Beach in Simon's Town. You'll have a day to explore on your own, or simply to laze the day away while the kids play on one of the Cape Peninsula's beautiful white beaches. For a complete change of pace, you'll fly to the Kruger National Park for a safari that could bring you face to face with the Big Five and other African animals. Special bush activities will be arranged for the kids at Tintswalo Lodge.

Cape Town

Start your African journey with four days in Cape Town, known to all South Africans as the Mother City. Depending on what time you arrive, enjoy a city tour en route to your hotel, taking in sights such as the Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope, the colourful Bo-Kaap Malay Quarter and Signal Hill. Cape Town

You’ll be collected for a full-day tour of Cape Point, including stops at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Boulders Beach to see the African penguin colony (entrance fee excluded). The kids will love these cute little birds, so full of character. You'll also get to see Clifton and Camps Bay, the Twelve Apostles, Llandudno and Hout Bay (where you can pay extra to go on a boat trip to see Cape fur seals at Duiker Island) and the little towns of Simon's Town and Muizenberg on the False Bay coast. Overnight at Lawhill Luxury Apartments, with breakfast included.

Cape Town

Today you get to explore Cape Town at your own pace. You might want to hop on to City Sightseeing Topless bus, which is a great way to see all the important and interesting sights of the city. We can book it for you or there are kiosks at the V&A Waterfront where you can buy tickets. Take some time too to explore the shops and restaurants of the vibrant Waterfront, which is right on your doorstep. Overnight at Lawhill Luxury Apartments, with breakfast included.

Cape Town

Explore some more of Cape Town and its environs on another day at leisure. Take the kids to the beach for a day of fun in the sun or to the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. Cape Town is packed with things to see and do; whether your taste is for fun or relaxation you're sure to find something to interest the whole family. Overnight at Lawhill Luxury Apartments, with breakfast included.

Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger

You’ll be collected and driven to the airport in Cape Town to connect with your flight to the Kruger National Park. You'll be met at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit and transferred by road to Tintswalo Safari Lodge in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve concession adjoining Kruger, a drive that will take about three hours. The reserve is open to the Greater Kruger National Park on its fenceless eastern boundary, so animals roam freely between them. Depending on what time you arrive, you’ll be able to join the late-afternoon game drive. Overnight at Tintswalo Safari Lodge, with breakfast and game activities included.

Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger

At the lodge, the kids will have special bush-themed activities arranged for them. They can go tracking with their own field guide and learn about the Shangaan culture. They may even get into the kitchen to bake bread. Age-appropriate activities include fabric painting, collages and other arts. While they're happily occupied, you can go on a game drive in an open safari vehicle or explore on foot with a trained guide to get the most from your Kruger experience. Overnight at Tintswalo Safari Lodge, with meals, drinks, kids' and game activities included.

Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger

Again you can go on a game drive or bush walk knowing that the kids are happy and safe, participating in their own activities – perhaps a treasure hunt using tracks and other clues, or an introduction to the Small Five (leopard toad, ant lion, buffalo weaver, rhino beetle and elephant shrew). In the evening, the kids might enjoy star gazing with a ranger to teach them about the Southern Hemisphere's night skies. Overnight at Tintswalo Safari Lodge, with meals, drinks, kids' and game activities included.

Fly Home

After breakfast and a morning game drive, depending on what time your flight leaves, you'll be driven back to Nelspruit for your return flight to Johannesburg and your connecting flight home (transfer and flight included but the flight price is subject to change at time of booking).

Note: Flight prices are based on estimates and won't be accurate. Your flights from Johannesburg to Nelspruit back again will be included but will have an impact on the published price for this journey.
