Huge herds have arrived at Four Seasons

We have large numbers of wildebeest and zebra all round the lodge, spreading all the way through the woodland to where our shortcut road meets the Lobo road. From there, there are also huge numbers scattered all the way to Togoro Plains.

Long lines of wildebeest and zebra on the plains south of Seronera

Hi HerdTracker,

After flying into and driving through Seronera yesterday, we saw long lines and big mixed herds of wildebeest and zebra on the plains south of Seronera and drinking along the Seronera River.

Scattered groups of wildebeest along the Four Seasons access road

Hi Carel,

I just got back from a meeting in Seronera and drove through some quite big, scattered groups of wildebeest along our access road, especially near the Lodge and the Ikoma Circuit, where they seem to be enjoying the fresh new grass that has come up in the past few weeks, especially in the areas that were burned earlier in the year.

We did not see many other wildebeest north of Seronera, but some eland and other good game along the way. We had more good rains last night, and as I type we are in the midst of another good downpour, lots of green grass everywhere!

Large numbers being seen as guests drive from Seronera to Four Seasons

Hi Carel,

No rain for a couple of days, but the area around the Lodge is getting greener by the day. Long lines of wildebeest can be seen in the distance heading south, and large numbers being seen as guests drive from Seronera to Four Seasons, with several carcasses being washed up in the Orangi River.

One of our guides – Priscus Sulle – took this photo yesterday as a long line heading south ,around the Maasai Kopje's area, and he said that there are wildebeest as far south as Simba Kopjes.

Big herds between Ikoma Gate and Seronera

Morning Carel,

We've had some good rains again the past two afternoons and things are greening up. The big herds are still around our access road and along the main road between Ikoma Gate and Seronera.

Yesterday, our guests enjoyed flying over big herds of wildebeest with Serengeti Balloon Safaris in the Seronera area.

Massive herds of zebra and wildebeest between Seronera and Ikoma

Hi Carel

I just heard from guests driving in from Frankfurt Zoological Society in Seronera that there are massive herds of zebra and wildebeest heading this way and south. They found them all along our access road and the main road between Seronera and Ikoma about 15 km from Four Seasons.

Some good rains the past few days seems to have brought them this way from the west. Lets hope they stick around as the grass greens up.
