Part of the Cape Winelands Safari Collection

Situated on the most southern tip of the African continent, lies South Africa.  Not only is South Africa a strong favourite for a Big Five safari, but visitors visit for nature, unique adventures and great food.

The Cape Town area is a great addition to an African tour and visiting the Cape Winelands a popular tourist attraction.

Although you can visit the area for a day while staying in the city centre, to get the most of your holiday it is recommended that you stay the night.

And why not consider De Zalze Lodge for your next holiday?

More about De Zalze Lodge

The lodge is only 3 kilometres from the town of Stellenbosch – close enough to explore all the history and beautifully preserved buildings of this University town, but also a little further away to experience great views and tranquillity.

De Zalze Lodge itself is a Cape Dutch vernacular style guest lodge.  While at the lodge you can enjoy the views of lush vineyards and the breathtaking Stellenbosch Mountains.

Activities at the lodge

De Zalze Lodge is a great stop to just relax for a day or more.  You can enjoy the hot African sun on one of the sun loungers at the rim-flow pool.  Why not enjoy a wine tasting at the lodge beforehand and you can select your preferred wine to enjoy while soaking up the sun.

On the estate, you can also enjoy a few walking trails through the vineyards.  Whether you are a cyclist or runner, there is a trail for you.

The lodge is also located right on the doorstep of the De Zalze Golf Course – this is one of the finest courses in the Cape Region.

This 18-hole golf course offers a round of golf for all types of golfers.

They have a practice facility where you can loosen up and practice your range, chipping and putting before your game begins.

There is also a halfway house for a quick drink and bite to eat, or you can enjoy a meal at the clubhouse at the end of your round.

Attractions in the area

Found in the Stellenbosch Wine Route, a visit would not be complete without a visit to a few estates in the area.  Stellenbosch is known for its award-winning wines and touring the estates; you will not only taste these wines but also learn more about the process.

Being the second-oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch is rich in history.

Stellenbosch has also become an excellent area for outdoor activities.  There are plenty of mountain bike and running trails.

You can rent a Segway and cruise through the vineyards.

Or just take a chill day and go strawberry picking and enjoy a picnic at the Botanical Gardens.
