Lodge Review | Shinde Camp, Okavango Delta

discoverafrica 01 February 2019

We pride ourselves on our outstanding collection of luxury lodges and camps that we send our clients to, and Shinde is no exception. Hidden in a lush palm garden in the heart of the Okavango Delta, this is a prime Botswana accommodation option for discerning guests. Ker & Downey’s opulent hideaway combines the sort of luxury one can expect from the group, with all the classic safari activities on offer in the Delta, all year round.

Eight intimate ensuite tents are framed by glass, offering dramatic views over the lush floodplains. Enjoy an early breakfast on the deck overlooking the swollen river. Evenings after a long day seeking the surrounding wildlife are best enjoyed around the communal campfire, with a refreshing glass of South Africa’s award-winning wines in hand. Or perhaps honeymooners would prefer a glass of bubbly in the bush, five-star service included. Whatever the occasion, Shinde never disappoints.

What guests had to say:

Superb venue & lovely staff

“The camp was amazing. The staff were welcoming and delightful throughout. The food was delicious and the rooms were immaculately turned down everyday. However, the best part were the guided tours; our guide (Chachos) was not only hugely knowledgeable, but also very personable. I enjoyed my time hugely, saw loads of animals and couldn’t recommend this camp enough to anyone,” eShepleyDotNet, UK

Remote tranquil wild experience of Botswana

"From our landing on the Shinde airstrip in a bush plane and being picked up by our guide...we were hooked. The camp is rustic, elegant, comfortable and every need fulfilled. The delicious meals were nicely varied with seasonal vegetables and meats and grains. The South African wines were always flowing as were the gin and tonics. Loved dining with the staff and guides at mealtime and downtime and were made to feel genuinely welcome,” ameliat409, UK

Beautiful place

“What a beautiful place. In the middle of real nature being in this lodge is a great experience. The whole team made our stay unforgettable. The game drives have been awesome too. One word to summarize: fantastic!” 329pietk, Netherlands
