Herdtracker East Africa Wildebeest Migration

Absolutely fantastic trip.
Excellent accommodation.
The Discover Africa team did a great job. Follow up and support while we were on safari. Vehicles was good. Drivers Excellent.
Trip of a lifetime.

I took my son to the Masai Mara for his 16th birthday, and it was our very first trip to Kenya—an experience we’ll never forget. From the very beginning, Discover Africa (especially Susan) guided us every step of the way. They helped us choose the perfect destination tailored to exactly what we were looking for, arranged incredible accommodations, and took care of every detail—from drivers to internal flights.

Even when we decided to extend our stay, everything was handled seamlessly. It truly felt like we had our own personal assistant throughout the journey. Communication was effortless via email and WhatsApp, and they even checked in with us daily to hear about our experiences, what wildlife we had seen, and to make sure everything was running smoothly.

The service was not only impeccable but also deeply personal and genuine. I honestly can’t imagine planning another trip without Discover Africa!

Working with Susan was a pleasure—she took time to understand our requirements, was knowledgeable about every aspect of our holiday, was highly responsive to the many questions we had both before and after we had booked the trip and put together a fabulous itinerary. Every detail was taken care of for us, which was hugely valuable given the complexity of a trip covering multiple destinations. The value of having Susan supporting us was apparent from the first day of our trip when our international flights from the UK were cancelled and the first 48 hours of our itinerary had to be modified – we were so grateful for her help in taking care of all the changes. All in all, it was a great experience.

A Tanzanian Safari had been a bucket list trip and Adelle at Discover Africa and Solly, our guide, made it better than we could have ever imagined! A few highlights

Flexibility: we had to adjust dates and itineraries several times given personal conflicts and Adelle flexed with us at every step, offering thoughtful recommendations to make sure we’d be able to have the best possible experience.

Overall Service: from pre-booking until we were back home, we felt genuinely cared about and like we were in great hands. Solly went out of his way to take routes and find spots off the beaten path to see the hard-to-find animals- answered our endless questions, all while doing some of the most impressive driving we’ve ever seen!

Attention to Detail: Adelle reviewed our all arrangements in detail, catching an error I had made with flights and time zones that could have resulted in missing a full day- but was avoided thanks to her. Every detail was perfect at every step. Food, bed types, custom pieces of the itinerary, etc.

Safety: it was of course a little disconcerting traveling during Covid and with my father who had only been out of the country once before- but the team was excellent and guided us through Covid requirements with ease and made us feel safe at every step, staying in constant contact and being very responsive.

Accommodations: far exceeded expectations and were beyond what we imagined, perfectly capturing the essence of a safari. We lucked out that on several of the nights we were the only guests on property- so had over the top service. A reason to book before tourism comes surging back!

Value: we knew this would be a bit of a pricy trip, but Adelle worked with us to get what we felt was a great overall value within our budget. She helped recommend where to pull back and where to spend more on hotels, activities, etc and her advice was excellent. Worth every penny. We could not say enough to compliment the team or recommend more highly – thanks again for the experience of a lifetime!!

Megan did a great job working with me to customize the exact trip that I envisioned. She made recommendations about things that I did not know about and helped me to assure I got the right mix of rugged to luxury.

I was met by excellent guides and drivers that spoke English well and made me feel safe throughout the trip. The transports were arranged from the time I got off the flight to Africa and until I got back on the plane. All legs of the trip were covered and went seamlessly. The guide for Kilimanjaro had been trained by the African National Parks and knew about the animals, the climbing routes and health issues that can occur. He was a wealth of great information and a very competent guide. The driver / guide for my safaris also was trained by the National park system and spoke English.

There was never a time where the drivers or transports were not on time or made me feel like I was not safe and well cared for. The lodges and tent camps were a mix of luxury to rugged and I enjoyed the mix. Megan smartly booked a second night at a lodge before all my adventures began as I was scheduled to arrive late in the evening. Flying to Africa is quite the ordeal so having critical rest time upon arrival is really important to making sure you are prepared for the rest of the adventure.

One thing I wish I had done was book an overnight in Amsterdam on my way over and on my way back. Having 3 flights and 2 of them 8 hour flights that are back to back, having a night to rest in Amsterdam would have been wise for me. I would highly recommend Discover Africa. They are well known and respected in Africa. My luggage was lost on the way to Africa and Discover Africa, while not responsible for this error on the airlines fault, did help me to locate my bag and get it to me before my Kilimanjaro climbing began.

Unforgettable trip!

Living afar and trusting in an organisation with whom you have no previous knowledge can lead to feeling of mistrust and wondering whether what we have paid for actually exists. A little more proactive communication would have eased those feelings.

In the end, it was all perfect. The choice of lodges, the timing of travel, the flights, and the whole experience was worth every single penny.

Thank you so much for such a memorable trip.
