Rwanda in December

December is an excellent time to explore Rwanda! Although the rains might put a slight hold on some activities, they also breathe new life into the landscape. You’ll be welcomed by gorgeous green scenery perfect for capturing incredible photos on your safaris!

If you’re a bird lover, you’ll be excited about what Rwanda has to offer. December is a fantastic month for birding, with plenty of feathered friends around to spot.

As we move into mid-December, wildlife viewing starts to get exciting! If you’re hoping to see the Big Five, Akagera National Park is the place to be. Just a heads-up, leopards and black rhinos can be a bit elusive, but there are so many other incredible animals to see. Keep your eyes peeled for hippos, zebras, giraffes, and even 11 species of antelope! It’s an adventure waiting to happen!

Akagera National Park

Wildlife is great all year round in Akagera National Park. The park has no primates present so gorilla trekking isn’t an experience you can have here. However, there are many other activities and things to see here as the park has a diversity of habitats to see from majestic mountains, and forest-fringed lakes, it is a picture-perfect region on a photographic safari.
