Discover Africa with Steve

Steve is currently the Director of Operations and Finance and is responsible for the smooth running of the business and making sure the bills are paid.

Steve is a co-founder at Discover Africa Safaris. Steve’s love for Africa and everything it embodies got him traveling through Africa from a very young age. After selling his furniture manufacturing business in 1999 he embarked on a 6 month trans Africa sabbatical in 2000, exploring far reaching corners of Southern and East Africa. On returning, with a great love and passion for Africa, it was an easy decision for him to venture into the Travel industry, sharing his experiences with like minded travellers.

What do you love about African travel?

There are very few places left in the world that are still untouched by humans. The wilderness of Africa is raw yet naturally the most beautiful place on the planet. Only people who have traveled to Africa will understand the impact it can have on your life!

What is your favourite place in Africa?

Close contest between Mana Pools in Zimbabwe and the Okavango Delta in Botswana

What is your most memorable experience in Africa?

In 1999, on a very limited budget, I re-built a Series 3 Landrover, kitted it out for overlanding and spent 6 months exploring Southern and East Africa.

What is your best advice for someone travelling to Africa?

Embrace Africa and everything it has to offer. The natural beauty and energy can capture your heart. Africa is a feeling!
