Day 1

Kigali

Staying at The Retreat by Heaven

Welcome to Rwanda! On arrival at Kigali airport, you are met and accompanied through to collect your luggage and pass customs.

Meet with your private English speaking driver-guide and depart for a guided orientation city tour of Kigali, including a visit to the Genocide Memorial with a light lunch.

Transfer to the hotel where you can relax and appreciate the peaceful surrounding. Chat to your host to book a table for dinner and overnight.

Day 2-3

Akagera National Park

Staying at Wilderness Magashi

Breakfast and check out. You are met with your guide for the road transfer to Akagera, that takes about 4 hours. You will be met by the lodge's team and hop unto the 4x4 vehicles to the lodge. Enjoy lunch and relax before the afternoon game viewing activity.

Embracing riverine forests, lakes, hills and open plains, Rwanda’s Akagera National Park is the archetypal East African safari experience, and a haven for wildlife. Go in search of Akagera’s exceptional animals: lions, rhinos, leopards, hippos and elephants are just some of the species that call the park home.

There are more than 900 species of birds in the area and you can try your hand at fishing (season dependent).

Your guide will set your days as per the movement of the wildlife and the season.

Teeming with plains game, in addition, Akagera boasts a healthy population of lion, which were reintroduced into the park in 2015 after a 20-year absence, as well as black rhino which were reintroduced in 2017.

Back at the lodge, perched like butterflies on the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga, you can relax in your spacious tent, surrounded by one of the most serene landscapes imaginable – the ideal stage for exceptional adventures.

Day 4

Kigali

Staying at The Retreat by Heaven

After breakfast and a last game drive, transfer to the gate where you are met by your english speaking driver-guide and return to Kigali and The Retreat.

Balance of the day at leisure,unwind in the lounge, amidst plush furnishings and an ambiance that exudes warmth. Whether you're savoring a handcrafted cocktail expertly prepared by the mixologists or indulging in a moment of solitude with a good book, the lounge offers a serene escape from the bustling world outside. You can also book a spa treatment and your host will assist with booking table for dinner.

Day 5

Nyungwe Forest National Park

Staying at One & Only Nyungwe House

Early morning breakfast and depart for the East corner of the country and one of its oldest forest. You will visit the Nyanza palace and museum en-route with lunch.

Tropical and mountainous, Rwanda is renowned for its lush rainforests and charismatic chimpanzees, and one of the best places to see both has to be Nyungwe National Park, an area renowned for its population of primates. Arrive at Nyungwe House, a sophisticated, homestead-style hotel on an expansive working tea plantation. Kick back, relax and enjoy the best of Rwanda's pristine natural beauty.

In the afternoon, visit the tea plantation. The secret behind the perfect cup of tea starts right here in Gisakura Tea Estate. Hugging the rippling hills at the western fringes of Nyungwe National Park, the estate is among the most famous of Rwanda’s tea plantations and is certainly the most spectacular. Dinner and early night at the resort.

Day 6

Nyungwe Forest National Park

Staying at One & Only Nyungwe House

Early morning wake up call, and briefing on the chimpanzee trekking. At the break of dawn, your expert guide will lead you into the heart of the jungle, on the trail of chimpanzees. A rustle of leaves, and then, through the branches, you’ll spot a chimpanzee gazing down from the fig trees. Or perhaps you’ll see a troop of tree-dwelling chimps catapulting off through the canopy. Every trek is different, and the jungle’s charismatic chimpanzees are full of surprises.

Explore untamable jungles and sky-high bridges spanning the treetops in Nyungwe National Park. A world of truly memorable experiences awaits you.

The afternoon is at leisure to explore the area and enjoy a complimentary activity at the resort (preferable to book the day before, chat to your host as per your preferences). Improve your strength and conditioning in a majestic setting as you enjoy an high-intensity aqua workout in the infinity pool, enjoy a yoga session or book a spa treatment (additional). Meals are included at the resort.

Day 7-9

Volcanoes National Park

Leisurely breakfast and take the road again, this time to reach the Northern section of the country and the famous Volcanoes National Park. From the moment you arrive, fragrant fauna and flora greet you. A hidden garden atop the volcanic mountains where a world of roses and eucalyptus trees grow all year round in the fertile Rwandan soil. Not only does the plant-life contribute to everything from your welcome drink to your dinner and the logs burning on the fire – every plant and tree is chosen to encourage flourishing wildlife. End Of Itinerary

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and meet with your guide for the transfer to the nearby airstrip.

We have included the return to Kigali in a twin-engine helicopter. Arrive at the airport and spend time at leisure in the lounge until your own flight out. Depending on the flight time, you can add a vehicle and guide to your disposal in Kigali
