9-day Great Wildebeest Migration safari (Luxury)

These mass ungulate herds cross plains and rivers as the season's change and rain-ripened grass are depleted in their area, forcing them to move on to the next.

Let HerdTracker help you to track the movement of the migratory herds, allowing you to book a migration safari in order to experience the great migration first-hand. We’ve compiled a safari that will be perfect for you to explore the migration on.

Estimated cost per person for a 9-day safari like this, depending on the season. Can be customised based on your budget and requirements.
International flights not included.

Costing tip: When comparing with other companies, remember most of them only show the low season rate. How pricing works >

Unique Tanzanian experience

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, where Lemala Mpingo Ridge will be your home for the next two nights with all your meals and activities included.

Lemala Mpingo Ridge sits on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below. Being the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire remains slightly off the main safari circuit but is a terrifically scenic park featuring classic African savannah, green hills woodlands and rivers and is especially famous for its large herds of elephants, superb birdlife and giant baobab trees. You will get the opportunity to enjoy a real sense of wilderness and excellent game viewing, and it's both a relaxing standalone destination and a great place to start a safari that also combines Lemala properties in the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti.

Also, expect to see tree-climbing lions, Lesser kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx, Grant's gazelle, leopard, buffalo and huge herds of elephant, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the plains.

Other activities you should look out for include night game drives, walking safaris, balloon safaris, Maasai village tour, bird watching and a bush lunch and dinner with sundowners.

World’s most unusual wildlife destination

Spend two nights in the Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp with all your meals included. The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is one of the world’s most unusual wildlife destinations.

The charming Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is set in the dappled shade of an ancient acacia forest, right on the edge of the majestic Ngorongoro Crater. The camp is situated close to the quiet Lemala crater access route, which means that you'll have a quick and easy access into the Crater.

The crater offers some of the best game viewings in Africa, from zebra, elands, elephant and a paradise of predators from jackal and hyena to leopards and lions. It’s not unusual to see all members of the Big Five in a single day.

Perfectly positioned in the northern Serengeti's Wogakurya Hills, in the path of passing wildebeest herds as they move to the Mara and back. The Mara River is the place to be, with river crossings proving to be the main attraction. Expect excellent service from the warm and vibrant staff, and experience the natural wonders of the Serengeti on game drives, wildlife walks (booked in advance) and dinners in the bush.  Enjoy bar and dining areas with superb views, relax on decks at the main swimming pool or rejuvenate in the Melengali Spa tent, situated in the wild capturing a natural and peaceful setting.
