Day 1

Nairobi

Staying at Tamarind Tree Hotel

Arrive Jomo Kenyatta airport, where you will be met by our local driver for the transfer to the hotel.

Depending on your flight times, we can add a guided day tour in Nairobi, to visit the Giraffe Centre or Sheldrick's elephant orphanage, or a local market, chat to us for the options depending on your preferences.

Day 2

Masai Mara

Staying at Basecamp Masai Mara

Breakfast at the hotel and morning transfer to Wilson airport on time for the local flight into the Masai Mara.

Arrive at the airstrip, where you are met by the camp's guide. Transfer to the lodge and relax before the first afternoon game drive, this is a shared scheduled activity. One of the most sought-after experiences for wildlife and nature enthusiasts, the Great Migration is the ever-moving circular migration of over a million animals across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The constant movement of columns of wildebeest, joined by a host of companions, follow an age-old route in search of grazing and water.

By August, the herds have faced the challenge of crossing the Mara River and are spread throughout the Masai Mara's northern region, with many remaining in the northern Serengeti. In years when the river is in full flow, the panic and confusion at the crossings — combined with waiting predators and surging currents — can cause massive loss of life. But, even in years of relatively gently flowing water, the crocs take their toll, not to mention the lions and other large predators that patrol the banks, ready to ambush any wildebeest that make it to the other side. There is no single crossing: at some spots, there are just a few individuals, while others see a mass of animals moving without break for hours.

The migration is a natural event and you will need to have a bit of luck, depending on the herds movements at the time of your safari.

Masai Mara

Staying at Basecamp Masai Mara

Your day is filled with the scheduled game viewing in the area, and a chance to spot the river crossings, if the herds are within reach.

Day 4

Northern Serengeti

Staying at Kirurumu Mobile Migration Camp

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for your flights to Migori and connection from Tarime, to reach the Northern Serengeti by mid-day.

You arrive at Kogatende airstrip, where you are met by the lodge's safari guide and transfer into camp. This is your base for the next 3 nights with a wonderful game viewing on the plains, and the chance for more river crossings, this time from the Serengeti side.

Having been in operation since the late 1990s, Kirurumu Migration Camp is one of the oldest mobile camps in the Serengeti. The camp was established by Peter Lindstrom, a Kenyan conservationist and experienced safari guide. A strong commitment to conservation remains one of the camp’s core values. This is a small, unpretentious camp with friendly staff and great guiding.

Northern Serengeti

Staying at Kirurumu Mobile Migration Camp

You have two full days of game viewing with the shared scheduled activities, your guide will keep you abreast of the herds movement and ensure your days are filled with wonderful game viewing.

Day 7

Karatu

Staying at Tloma Lodge

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for the local flight to Lake Manyara. On arrival, you are met by our local guide and a private safari vehicle with an open top, for the remainder of your stay. In the afternoon, you will have time to visit the Lake Manyara National park, a small but scenic park. You will get to come close to the monkey population, prolific in the area, and maybe catch one of the lions known to be sleeping in the trees.

Exit the park late afternoon and transfer to nearby Tloma lodge for dinner and night.

Day 8

Karatu

Staying at Tloma Lodge

Today is an early wake up call, to reach the Ngorongoro Crater and an exiting day of game viewing on the Crater floor. The packed lunch will be enjoyed at one of the picnic site and you have plenty of time to search for the local wildlife, with the forested area.

In the afternoon, exit the Crater and return to the lodge on time for dinner and night.

Day 9

Pongwe

Staying at Pongwe Beach Hotel

Your guide will transfer you to Arusha airport, say your good-byes and board the flight to Zanzibar.

On arrival, transfer to the small resort located on the east coast. Time at leisure at the resort, to relax, walk on the beach, learn to dive (supplement), or book an optional tour to discover the island.

Day 10-11

Pongwe

Staying at Pongwe Beach Hotel

Time at leisure to explore Pongwe's beach, one of the most beautiful on the island, soft white sand, fringed with coconut trees some with hammocks and plenty of space for everyone, at high tide the beach is cut off from the rest of the coast.

The pool’s edge seemingly merges with the turquoise sea, offering a breathtaking view of the beach.

End Of Itinerary

Breakfast at the resort and transfer to the airport.
