Migration Safari in Kenya and Tanzania With a Few Days in Zanzibar

I contacted a few agency, Discover Africa was fast to respond. Every steps of the way in planning to the very end of departure, all things were planned with precise accuracy. Adelle was always in communication and ready to help and answer everything.

Frank, my guide and driver, was beyond expectations. I was an unusually quiet person, and somehow Frank seems to know that and provided me a perfect safari experience with just enough information and friendliness without making it seems overwhelming for me. He somehow noticed a lot of details while searching for animals, birds, plants and even insects while driving in the relatively difficult paths.

Both accommodations suggested by Adelle were great. I couldn’t ask for more. As a solo traveller, it isn’t always easy. It turned out to be beyond I had ever dreamed of. The feeling and experience when we stopped in the middle of hundreds or thousands of animals walking around us in the same direction was more than words can describe. Thank you Adelle. Working with Susan was a pleasure—she took time to understand our requirements, was knowledgeable about every aspect of our holiday, was highly responsive to the many questions we had both before and after we had booked the trip and put together a fabulous itinerary. Every detail was taken care of for us, which was hugely valuable given the complexity of a trip covering multiple destinations. The value of having Susan supporting us was apparent from the first day of our trip when our international flights from the UK were cancelled and the first 48 hours of our itinerary had to be modified – we were so grateful for her help in taking care of all the changes. All in all, it was a great experience.

We booked our safari trip with Susan of Discover Africa. Susan has been very caring, patient and professional. She listened to our requests and questions patiently and responded promptly. When she discovered that a larger group’s booking with the same camp as our booking had overlap, she reached out to us and suggested alternative camps to maintain the possibility of an intimate safari experience.

Our entire trip to the three camps has been a wonderful experience. We saw many animals easily in Amboseli. The guide Dickson was really great, and we learned a lot about the animal behavior and their ecosystem. The Elewana Tortilis camp was great with an intimate atmosphere and very friendly staff. The Governor’s camp had access to a larger area of wildlife so one doesn’t get the feel that animals are everywhere. But we did get to see a lot of them. The highlights included seeing large herds of elephants (more than 40) reaching the Mara River bank, drinking water and contemplating crossing the river, and seeing lions feasting on their kill, and seeing a leopard patiently waiting for a group of impalas and finally making a hunt, albeit unsuccessful. The great migration completed about two weeks ago.

Our guide Issac explained that the distinction between dry and rainy season is no longer that clear, there has been more rain in Tanzania around this time in recent years so fewer wildebeests have crossed deep into the Mara area in the last five years and they have returned south earlier. The Governor’s camp was also very good but one doesn’t get as personal receptions from the management as one gets from the Elewana properties. The Elewana Loisaba property had exceptionally warm staff members and management—we would like to single out our meals server Ali for his warm hospitality, in addition to its breathtaking views from the tents and through much of its conservancy.

It’s harder to spot some of the animals due to its terrains and bushes, but we did get to see many beautiful animals, including the precious rhinos and large families of giraffes. All in all we have had a wonderful experience in our eight days of safari trip over there camps. This has been a great experience and we can’t thank Susan enough for her help.

When we initially spoke to Vihann about visiting he wanted to know what we hoped to see and do, as well as our budget. Vihann got back to us very quickly with the perfect personalized itinerary to celebrate our 45th. wedding anniversary.

The main reason for going was to see the animals and the migration. That expectation was definitely fulfilled. Our itinerary planned by Vihann was perfect for us. We loved the people, food, accommodations and special touches provided by our hosts to make it unique. We were very well looked after throughout our trip.

Vihann kept in contact to make sure everything was going well. What could be nicer than a private dinner and special celebration with music, dancing and champagne provided by our camp hosts! Our guides S.P in Ngorongoro and Andrew in Serengeti provided by Discover Africa were the best. They made sure we had many opportunities to take pictures of the animals and scenery. We were most impressed with their knowledge of the animals and culture. Our last few days spent at Nungwi Dreams Resort was a perfect ending to a perfect trip!

We are spreading the word to friends and family about your company. A trip like this should be on everyone’s “bucket list”.

This was the perfect tour for us. We had a good driver who very kind & take care of us, the scheduled was great & everything went as planned. We excited to see the animals migration in this season especially when the animals running on the grassland & we saw them from Hot Air Ballon early in the morning! Feel so GREAT!!
