Cape Town, Vic Falls and Zambia Safari

Our Cape Town and safari adventure were absolutely top-notch! Every step of the way, from airport transportation to accommodations to provided tours in Cape Town, was outstanding and enjoyed by all members of our family travel party!

The stay and game drives at Inyati near Kruger were even more memorable (if that is even possible). Everyone had the “trip of a lifetime” and all aspects and details of the trip met and typically exceeded our expectations!

We contacted Discover Africa directly from Sydney. Feeling that a local travel agent would serve our interests best. And that’s how it turned out. Vihann van Wyck was our contact point, and he did everything we wanted and more. All his suggestions were good, and ALL his travel arrangements worked seamlessly. Hotels welcomed us, and shuttle buses arrived on time in remote locations for our group of 6 family members. We had a week in two excellent game parks. Jock in Kruger and Ulusaba at Sabi Sands. A wonderful experience of safari and luxury.

Then a week in Capetown. A beautiful city with its monumental Table Mountain. And we took severe advantage of the poor Rand with our less than spectacular Australian dollars. The African people are fantastic. We never felt stressed. All in all, an amazing holiday. Thank you, Vihann. I highly recommend Africa and Discover Africa. I should also say that the 14-hour direct Sydney to Jo’burg flight is a blessing for Australians going to South Africa. So easy and a great A380 plane and crew. The old Qantas that we all remember.

We picked Discover Africa Safaris due to recommendations from other friends. We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers) and did our bookings on very short notice; however, they did a great job finding the best alternatives in a compressed schedule that would fit our available days and budget. Our designated agent also kept on top of the logistics, with daily WhatsApp follow-ups in case of any contingencies or changes.

You may find cheaper options elsewhere, but if peace of mind is what you are looking for, we recommend them.

This truly was an experience of a lifetime! Everything was smooth, organized, affordable, and so much fun! Megan was amazing!! She helped us every step of the way! Readily available for any questions or concerns we had leading up to and through the entire trip!

This trip has been a work in progress since 2019. We originally started planning this for our 50th wedding anniversary and then Covid hit. When we first spoke to Matthys we were not familiar with anything in Africa. We told him we had to see the “Big Five”, but other than that we didn’t know what we really wanted. Well, let me tell you everything was absolutely perfect. We flew into Cape Town and enjoyed 5 days of perfection. A tour to the wineries, table mountain cable car, down to the southern Cape of Good Hope, and Robben Island were tours that he arranged. Then it was on to Victoria Falls.

Our next stop was Sabi Sabi Little Bush Camp at Krueger National Park where we stayed for 3 nights. Not only did we see the big five but we also saw, giraffes, cheetahs, ostrich, hippopotamus, zebra and so much more. Matthys recommended we split our time between two safari camps so our next stop was Leopard Hills. Both lodges were above and beyond our expectations. We even got to see lions mating. The last leg of our journey brought us to Mauritius for a relaxing beach vacation. We had a long layover on our return trip to the States so Matthys arranged a day trip to Soweto.

Every stop on our vacation was perfect. There was always someone to meet us and escort us to our destination. Matthys listened to our wants and delivered a vacation that surpassed anything that we expected. Africa truly is life-changing

My husband and I went to Southern Africa for our honeymoon and it was unbelievable and truly the trip of our dreams. We wanted to visit Cape Town, Botswana, and Zimbabwe on a middle range budget but still getting as nice of things as possible and Megan made it happen. Megan was so on top of everything and so organized I couldn’t believe it! I felt so safe knowing that we were in her hands.

We stayed at the Victoria and Alfred hotel right on the waterfront and got to see the penguins and national parks in Cape Town. Then, in Botswana we did safaris in both the Okavango Delta and Chobe. We stayed at Kadizora Camp in the Delta first. This camp was so quaint, beautiful, peaceful, secluded, and the food and staff were beyond amazing. We didn’t see even one other jeep while we were out and saw the big 5 minus Rhinos which don’t live in that area.

The second place we stayed was Elephant Valley Lodge in Chobe and the there was a watering hole right in front of the camp where elephants and other animals would come to drink right in front of the camp that you could enjoy while drinking coffee or eating dinner. We also saw 3/5 there minus cheetahs and rhinos. This view was incredible and made the camp so special.

In Zimbabwe we saw the breathtaking Victoria Falls and did the funnest zip line. Even though we had several COVID tests while we were there it was all worth it and we respected each country keeping their people safe but still allowing us to visit. I cannot say enough about Megan she is truly incredible and we will be using her when we come back to different parts of Africa.
