Affordable Sabi Sands All Inclusive Safari

I have just returned from my third African safari organised by Discover Africa, and once again Susan did an outstanding job of planning every detail.

The journey began at my favourite destination, Kruger National Park, where the wildlife experiences were as memorable as ever. From there, I travelled to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, an awe-inspiring destination. The microlight flight over the falls was simply unforgettable, offering breathtaking views and an experience I’ll never forget.

The final leg of the trip took me to Elephant Valley Lodge in Botswana, where the game drives in Chobe National Park were exceptional. The afternoon cruise on the Chobe River provided a completely different perspective on the incredible wildlife, making for a perfect conclusion to the safari.

This was another outstanding holiday, and I have no doubt that my fourth trip to the African continent will also be organised by Discover Africa.

We went on safari to Sabi Sands in September 2024 and had an amazing time. Saw an abundance of animals, and the big 5 multiple times. The service throughout the entire stay was top notch! Susan made everything seamless and we did not have to think about a thing!! Can’t wait to go back.

Incredible experience! Diane Du Plessis was our consultant for two South African safaris, one at Umkumbe Bush Lodge (Sabi Sand Nature Reserve) and the other at Motswari Game Reserve (Timbavati Private Game Reserve). Transfers and in-country flights all went off without a hitch. Everywhere we stayed was beautiful and elegant, including our last four days at the Winchester in Capetown.

On safari, we got to see lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, Impalas and more. At both reserves, we saw animals with their kills and got very close without disturbing them. Guides were great at both locations. The bungalows at Umkumbe were brand new and very comfortable. The food was particularly good at Motswari. Motswari has an early coffee and treats before you go out on safari, which is nice. Highly recommend Discover Africa!

Antoinette was amazing. She pulled together our Sabi Sands safari at the last minute (one month before travel) – securing our first-choice lodge and flights. She communicated so well at every stage of the process and provided comprehensive, objective advice and information. Every part of the trip was seamless and stress-free. It was incredibly easy to book the tour with Matthys and the Discover Africa team. They catered to our dates, our budget, and the type of trip we were looking for. One thing I really enjoyed was that everything was taken care of from the moment we touched down in Johannesburg (e.g. – flight the next day, transfers between flights to lodge locations, meals, drinks, everything!) so we didn’t have to think about all the travel logistics.

We stayed at the Simbavati Hilltop Lodge for 2 nights, and the Arathusa location in Sabi Sands for 2 nights. Both the locations did not disappoint. The views were incredible from our rooms (we could see elephants, antelope, hippos etc… directly from our private patios), staff/services were 10/10, and the food/drinks were absolutely incredible.

The game drives themselves were amazing as well – saw all the big 5 (some multiple times) and a bunch of other awesome animals as well. Guides were very knowledgeable, made you feel safe, and were just overall a great time. We highly recommend this trip.
