Is the Xugana Island Lodge for Me?
The camp has been completely rebuilt in 2025. Xugana Island Lodge is located within one of Africa’s most spectacular permanent water site in the Okavango Delta. The lodge seats on a private island, and offers an eco-friendly haven with scenic and wildlife viewing from every vantage point.
The new multi-level decks integrate dining, reception and curio shop areas, providing panoramic views across the lagoon. The Overwater Fire Deck extends beyond the island’s edge, allowing you to step directly onto the water’s surface beneath the open sky—perfect for memorable moments, day or night.
As a water lodge, the activities on offer include motorboat safaris, catch-and-release fishing with supplied gear, mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions, guided walking safaris, and world-class birdwatching.
Scenic helicopter flights over the Okavango Delta are available at an additional charge. This doors-off experience is fantastic for avid photographers and those keen to witness one of Botswana’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites as the birds do—from above!
Xugana Island Lodge preserves privacy by hosting only 22 guests, enhanced with spacious, lagoon-facing Luxury Tents that each feature en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers and enclosed viewing decks. It is ideal for a slow safari concept, bird lovers, honeymooners and people looking to reconnect with nature.
