Day 1-3

Ruaha National Park

Staying at Usangu Expedition Camp

Arrive at Dar airport, transit to the domestic terminal to fly to Ruaha. Depending on your time of arrival, you might need a pre-night in Dar es Salaam, contact us for options.

Arrive at Jongomero airstrip and meet with your guide, transfer to camp and meet with the team to plan your days. There are so many activities and the opportunity to join one of the research projects. They will guide you as per your preferences and the project in place at the time.

Early mornings are typically best for game drives and walking safaris while the temperatures are slightly cooler, and wildlife is more active. Mid-afternoons are the perfect time to relax under the trees with a book or, or the more active, visit the Douglas Bell Eco Research Station for a first-hand explanation about the conservation work and research being conducted in the wetlands.

Afternoons offer the opportunity for boating safaris or spending time in the field with a researcher. Participate in research activities such as the positioning of camera traps, image analysis for predator identification and tracking collared lions using telemetry.

Day 4-5

Ruaha National Park

Staying at Jabali Ridge

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip where you are met by Jabali's guide and road transfer through the Park via a meandering game drive. Arrive on time for lunch and relax by the pool before the afternoon game drive. Jabali Ridge is perched on a rocky kopje with views across the Ruaha savannah stretching all the way to the Mwagusi River.

The greater Ruaha area is thought to be home to one-tenth of the entire world’s wild lion population, with large prides roaming the plains. Cheetah, leopard and packs of wild dog are seen hunting here too. You can also spot greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope, elephants, giraffes, bat-eared foxes and some of the 570 bird species.

A typical day starts off with an early wake-up call and tea or coffee. Head off on your first game drive of the day after breakfast, or have it packed to take with you as a picnic. Arrive back at camp in time to freshen up before sitting down to lunch. Mid-afternoon is time for a rest. Read a book, take a dip in the pool. Afterward, enjoy afternoon tea and then an evening game drive or walk with sundowners. End the day with a drink at the bar and a leisurely dinner under the stars.

End Of Itinerary

Last morning in the bush, breakfast and transfer to the airstrip. The flight to Dar is included, time at leisure at the airport until your flight out, or contact us to extend your safari with a few days at the beach, or a gorilla trekking.
