Timbavati Safari Short and Sweet

We have just returned from a trip to 3 different safari camps in Botswana, a short trip to Victoria Falls and a gorilla trek in Rwanda that was booked with Susan from Discover Africa. We couldn’t be happier with the direction and support she gave us to truly make it a trip of a lifetime.

Although the three camps she booked for us were geographically quite close, they were very different in the wildlife viewing experiences, with different focuses for each (we were at camp Okavango, Xakanaxa camp and Chobe Game Lodge). We saw all the animals and birds we dreamed of seeing in Africa with the exception of the rhino as conservation efforts are currently underway and they are located only in central Botswana at this time. The accommodation was incredible at all of them, the food delicious and the staff exceptional. Such lovely, welcoming people.

Rwanda was an absolute favorite and not just for the amazing gorillas. The country is lush and beautiful, the people warm and welcoming and the Bishops house hotel was incredible.

Susan coordinated all of our bookings and when one of the airlines cancelled our flight within hours of our flying, she was completely on it and got us re-booked and on our way, even arriving an hour earlier than the previously scheduled flight. We would definitely book with Susan and Discover Africa again.

Fantastic Africa vacation! Discover Africa organised the whole trip seamlessly so that I didn’t need to plan anything but just enjoy every day. They provided me with a very detailed daily itinerary, including airport pickups. Inyati Game Lodge in Sabi Sands and Old Drift Lodge in Victoria Falls were excellent choices. We saw lions in action, a leopard devouring a kill in the tree, wild dogs hunting prey…  Victoria Falls was magnificent and beautiful with a half-circle rainbow. Home from a great trip to South Africa and Botswana, which was totally organised by Adelle at Discover Africa. Adelle was recommended to us by a friend, and after Adelle asked us what we would like to do and achieve on holiday, Adelle put together some great itineraries, and after some fine tuning between us, it ended up being the best holiday we have ever enjoyed. We never had to worry about any pick-ups, trips, hotel stays, or visits as everything was well organised. Next time we plan to visit Southern Africa again, we will ask Adelle to help us again.

Susan from Discover Africa arranged the perfect holiday for me in South Africa. She understood the balance I wanted exploring Cape Town and safari and ensured, as a solo traveller, I had tours and transferred pre-booked. I felt safe the whole time and loved all the accommodation and tours/safaris booked. Most of all, Susan made me feel really well looked after; she was responsive when I had questions and contactable when some weather issues arose, ensuring plan B was available, which luckily I didn’t need.

We picked Discover Africa Safaris due to recommendations from other friends. We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers) and did our bookings on very short notice; however, they did a great job finding the best alternatives in a compressed schedule that would fit our available days and budget. Our designated agent also kept on top of the logistics, with daily WhatsApp follow-ups in case of any contingencies or changes.

You may find cheaper options elsewhere, but if peace of mind is what you are looking for, we recommend them.

We had a wonderful family holiday in South Africa and Botswana. Matthys at Discover Africa put a great itinerary together, everything worked like clockwork and as advertised. The accommodations, food, flights, transfers and the land and water safaris were excellent with our safari guide being very knowledgeable. Staff at the safari camps were attentive & courteous. Our visit to Camp Moremi exceeded expectations and we viewed four of the big five ( no rhino, but we knew this in advance) plus many other animals. The internal flights with Safari Air were an adventure in their own right – especially the Cessna Van. Pilots were professional and helpful. Thank you for making this a memorable holiday.
