Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli

Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli

Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. There are over 1000 elephants in the parks eco-system, featuring some of the largest in Africa.Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli’s pristine areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Tortilis has the undeveloped western half of Amboseli to itself. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the park, and within a private 30,000 acre game concession. The tents are all large and spacious, with king or twin beds, elegant en suite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro.

The Wallow Lodge

The Wallow Lodge

Set within the Wild Horizons Wildlife Sanctuary inside Victoria Falls National Park on the banks of the Masuwe River, The Wallow Lodge, Zimbabwe, is one of the most personally scaled places to stay in Victoria Falls. This eco-luxury tented camp in Victoria Falls includes 16 canvas suites, each raised beneath ancient riverine trees, with private balconies looking straight out over the river and the wilderness beyond.

From certain vantage points on the concession, you can even see the mist cloud of Mosi-oa-Tunya rising above the treeline. Nestled within this pristine landscape, this is one of the best Victoria Falls National Park tented camps, as it offers an immersive wilderness experience. Think river-facing luxury tents that blend comfort with spectacular views. Best of all, the Falls themselves are just a 20-minute transfer away.

Wild Horizons, a premier ecotourism operator in Zimbabwe, designed The Wallow Lodge with a light footprint and a strong sense of place. Solar power, an organic vegetable garden, a recycling plant, and plastic-free essentials run through the operation quietly. The canvas suites carry a classic, unhurried atmosphere: wooden furnishings, colourful chitenge cushion covers, outdoor showers, and a private indoor sitting area in each. As one of the more intimate safari lodges near the Falls, the low ratio of guests to wilderness is part of what makes it work.

Masuwe River safari accommodation offers activities which include morning and evening game drives across 4,500 acres of private wilderness and excellent bird watching. A visit to the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust’s rescue and rehabilitation centre is seamlessly included for all guests. The signature experience, though, is cocktails and canapés served exclusively for lodge guests on the rim of the Batoka Gorge, with the Zambezi rapids churning 120 metres below.

The Wallow Lodge is eco-luxury tented camp accommodation that perfectly suits travellers who want genuine bush stillness close to a world wonder. It’s a stellar fit for couples who want to experience intimate safari lodges in Zimbabwe, first-time safari-goers, and anyone who wants Victoria Falls National Park tented camp immersion without the footprint of a larger commercial hotel.
