Is the Kulala Desert Lodge for Me?
The Kulala Adventurer Camp is located in an exclusive concession to Sossusvlei. Dome tents on wooden platforms with shade flies and private bathrooms are available at this small camp.
Simple-served comfort is created with separate toilet and shower ‘bathrooms’ with vintage tin bucket showers, sinks, and amenities.
The large clay pan near the famed Sossusvlei flanks the iconic red dunes that stand out vividly against the blue sky.
These dunes, of which Big Daddy or Dune 45 is the most well-known, have grown over millions of years as the wind has repeatedly reshaped the shapes of this sea of red sand.
The ‘vlei’ itself only fills following sporadic periods of intense rainfall; at this point, it completely reverses course and becomes an amazing turquoise lake.
