A Grandiose Journey through Cape Town, the Winelands and Kruger Safari

Discover Africa and their trip advisor Megan Warrington did a fantastic job arranging our trip to Cape Town, Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), and the Chobe River and Kwara Camp in Botswana. We originally planned this trip a few years ago, but had to cancel. Megan was able to resurrect our itinerary with a few improvements this year. The trip details they provided were very accurate and helped us in our planning (and packing). All the transfers/transportation went without a hitch. Greeters met us at each location and guided us to the appropriate next step.

All the accommodations they booked us in were top notch; better than we anticipated. In particular, they had booked us into a camp in the Okavanga delta run by the Kwando Safari company. When they Kwando company ended up closing the camp for renovations Megan made sure that Kwando upgraded our camp and we ended up at the amazing Kwara camp, their flagship location, with no additonal cost or bother for us. (That camp was amazing great wildlife, staff, food and “tents”.)

I would recommend Discover Africa and Megan to anyone planning a trip to the Southern Africa area for a safari or city visit.

My daughter who is 27 and I (her mom)have been dreaming of this trip for a few years. It was everything we wanted July seemed to be the best month to visit South Africa. Weather is comfortable, better opportunity for seeing the wildlife , no mosquitos or bugs due to it being winter at that time. Our trip started in Cape Town which was beautiful. We stayed at the Victoria and Alfred for 4 nights. Service and food there was really good. Lots to do in CT.

Then we went to the Kambuka River Sands private nature reserve for 4 nights. We rated it 10. Everything about it was great. We then went to Sabi Sabi little Bush reserve for 2 nights. It was great as well. We saw all the animals we wanted to see except for the cheetahs. We also saw lion cubs and baby elephants. End of trip was Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for 3 nights at the Shongwe Oasis. All transfers and domestic flights were pretty much on time. Service was great everywhere. Definitely got your money’s worth.

My wife and I have dreamed of a safari trip to Africa for years. I found Discover Africa on a Google search and was drawn to them to help us organize the trip of a lifetime. Our expectations were greatly exceeded. Matthys was excellent to work with to tailor a package of experiences that worked so well for us. He listened well to our feedback to enable him to design the entire trip to fit our interests. We were met at each location with warm and knowledgeable guides who made our travel so comfortable and relaxing. The lodges were amazing exceeded only by the game drives where we saw so many beautiful animals in their natural setting. Victoria Falls is so lovely. Meeting local people in their villages was very moving. We have memories and photos that are amazing and will last a lifetime. Our daughter traveled with us to celebrate her graduation from university. She wishes she had something on her forehead saying ‘Ask me about my trip!’ We love sharing our experiences and photos with anyone who is willing to listen.

We had the most memorable safari trip with Discover Africa Safaris. Susan put together the perfect itinerary for our first family safari. Her choices were excellent. We loved both safari lodges, and our accommodation in Cape Town was wonderful. Her recommendation for car rental in Cape Town was great, as we were able to drive to Hout Bay, Boulders Beach, and Cape Point easily. I would thoroughly recommend Susan to put together the perfect vacation!

Our 14-day trip to South Africa and Seychelles was nothing short of amazing. The four days on safari were my personal favourite, with being able to see all the animals in their natural environment. My daughter and son-in-law enjoyed the hike up Table Mountain, and we all enjoyed meeting and talking with the wonderful people of South Africa and Seychelles. Matthys was amazing in developing an itinerary that took everyone’s wishes and developing a trip of a lifetime. He always responded quickly to any question or concerns that I had. i would highly recommend Discover Africa Safaris for an amazing trip.
