Is the Usangu Expedition Camp for Me?
Set in the Usangu Wetlands in Ruaha National Park, Usangu Expedition Camp is surrounded by grassy marshes, floodplains, and miombo woodland. The camp is positioned just beyond the high-water mark to maximise views over the Ihefu Swamp.
The camp is small and intimate, with four guest tents raised on wooden decks, each with a shaded veranda from which you can absorb the daily rhythms of the wetlands. The tents are simple yet comfortable: large beds, en suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and bucket or plumbed showers, mesh walls for airflow, and shaded awnings to shelter you in the heat of the day.
Your days are filled with exploration. Game drives (day and night), bush walks, boating or canoe safaris in season, and bird-watching offer varied ways to see wildlife, including roan and sable antelope, wild dogs, and hundreds of migratory species. Meals are informal and outdoors, often prepared over an open fire, and evenings are spent under starlit skies.
Usangu Expedition Camp is well suited to adventurous travellers, nature lovers, and conservation-minded guests who are keen to connect with wilderness and wildlife in a quieter, less travelled part of Ruaha National Park.
