Singita Concession safaris, tours & holiday packages

The ultimate in bush chic, with wildlife tomatch

Just two stylish lodges, comprising 21 rooms, in an exclusive concession extending for 150 square kilometres across the Lebombo foothills in the eastern Kruger National Park

Arguably the most alluring of the land tracts ceded to private concessionaires by the Kruger management in 2001, Nwanetsi Concession Area lies in the ruggedly scenic foothills of the Lebombo range in the central part of the park bordering Mozambique.

The impact of this scenic wilderness is enhanced by the presence of the two architecturally innovative lodges, Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni, both of which accommodate guests in vast open-plan stilted suites distinguished by the dramatic wraparound glass walls and funky Afro-fusion decor.

Philip Briggs says

We've stayed at most of Africa's top lodges, and I'd rank Singita Lebombo and Sweni right up there with the very best of them. The rooms are so luxurious it can be difficult to draw yourself away from them, but we also had very rewarding game drives and enjoyed the delicious food and wine pairings. The perfect honeymoon game lodge.

More on Singita Concession holidays

Little wonder that Singita has been the choice of many celebrity visitors to South Africa. Yet despite the lodges' experimental design, they also possess a strong sense of place, situated as they are above a sheer cliff offering stirring views of the Lebombo Mountains and surrounding plains. Game viewing is arguably the best of any of the Kruger concessions, with the added bonus that off-road driving is generally allowed.

Game drives in open 4x4s and guided walks are incorporated into the lodge rates (as is the superb cuisine and an extensive range of fine Cape wines). In common with the rest of the park, guests staying a few days are likely to see buffalo, elephant, white rhino, leopard and lion, and the area also supports a few black rhino, various antelope including the localised Sharpe's grysbok, and an excellent variety of birds. The guiding standard here (and at other Singita lodges) is among the highest in Africa.
