The Peech Hotel is an eco-chic boutique hotel set in the suburb of Melrose, a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of the city. Originally a private residence built in the 1950's, the property was transformed into a hotel in the early 2000's by James Peech and specialises in being a 'home from home' when in Johannesburg.
Accommodation is in sixteen bedrooms all with expansive views across the lush one-acre gardens. Within the main house, the original part of the property, there are two House Rooms. The annexes are situated around the gardens and feature Garden Rooms and Garden Suites. A renewed emphasis on eco-driven luxury has seen the hotel turn to solar water heating as well as grey water recycling but without loosing the attention to detail or chic style that we are known for.
Our bistro serves dishes that reflect what The Peech is all about - simple, laid-back and chic with an understated touch of sophistication. The menu is designed to use only the freshest seasonal ingredients from locally sourced suppliers and the hotel’s own vegetable garden.
The hotel is located near the city's main shopping and business hubs and positioned in a suburb with boutiques, cafés and an adjacent park. Knowledgeable staff are able to guide guests around the city to ensure that a stay in Johannesburg is able to re-set the city’s stereotype reputation.
The Peech champions responsible tourism by blending an awareness for the environment and the community and is also Fair Trade Tourism certified. It has been described as “Contemporary, edgy and Afrocentric” by Condé Nast Traveller and nominated as South Africa’s Leading Boutique Hotel for the last five consecutive years.
