Experience incredible panoramic views of the city after a thrilling hike and make your way to one of the city’s main entertainment hotspots:

Table Mountain: UNESCO World Heritage Site

Due to its unique flora and fauna, Table Mountain – easily recognised due to its flat top – is a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering panoramic views of the city to travellers who get to the top.

There are two ways to traverse this mountain: take a two- to four-hour hike or go up the cable car. No matter which route you choose, you’ll be spoiled with stunning vistas along the way.

When at the top, take in the views along with the cutest rock dassies that dwell here. There’s a coffee shop for drinks and snacks.

V&A Waterfront: A Shopping Paradise

The V&A Waterfront is the city’s premier shopping destination. Featuring a range of high-end international brands as well as local favourites, visitors will enjoy browsing for souvenirs.

This is also a dining and entertainment hub! Wander around the Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa), visit the Two Oceans Aquarium, and go on a sundown boat charter from the harbour before indulging in a delicious dinner at one of the many restaurants.

The V&A is also home to the world-renowned Time Out Food Market. Grab a cocktail and meander along the stalls to find your favourite dishes.

Robben Island: Insight into the Past

A former prison, Robben Island is a historical site that’s a window into the country’s turbulent past. Former president and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela was imprisoned here for 27 years.

The Robben Island Museum conducts tours that include the historical sites of the island, including the actual prison and cell where Mandela was incarcerated.

There are various whale-watching tours that take off from Cape Town. However, it is seasonal (from June to November, with the peak between August and October).

Another marine species near Cape Town is the great white shark. You can go on shark sightseeing boat tours or get closer to these animals via shark cage diving.
