Is the Nimali Central Serengeti for Me?
Nimali Central Serengeti is set in the heart of the Serengeti plains in northern Tanzania, part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem. Built close to Makoma Hill, this luxury tented camp is hidden away offering a sense of seclusion in this part of the National Park. With breathtaking views over the hills and plains and perfectly situated on the path of the renowned migratory route, it is a place where you can expect the unexpected. Even when the migration is not passing through, the Makoma Hill area is well known for its vast herds of buffalo and elephants, giraffe and of course many predators including lions, cheetahs and hyenas. Numerous small hills and kopjes dot the landscape where lions are often found, warming themselves on the smooth surface of the rocks.
This charming and intimate tented camp has only eight rooms and has been designed for a truly authentic safari experience. Each tent evokes a richness and beauty and has been cleverly styled to combine modern furnishings with the feeling of adventure from a bygone era whilst ensuring minimal impact on the environment. The lounge and dining tents are wide open to make the very most of the breathtaking views of the Serengeti plains, furnished to offer a cosy and relaxing area in which to look through your photographs or read a book. Sundowners are sipped under the broad canopy of a large acacia tree with lanterns hanging from every branch and chairs surround an open fire where flames dance to the stories of the night. Here, guests are immersed in nature and have the unforgettable experience of being under canvas in the middle of this vast wilderness as the sun begins to slip over the horizon and the stars start to make their mark in the night sky.
Camp Access:
Flights from Arusha to Seronera take one hour and from Manyara take 40 minutes. Nimali Central Serengeti Camp is a 40 minute drive from the airstrip.
What sets us apart:
There is an abundance of game all year round in this part of the Serengeti and even when the migration is not passing through, the residential wildlife is superb. The central Serengeti can be busy, but we have found a secluded and quiet spot on the plains with endless views and where few, if any, vehicles venture. Game viewing can be done from camp, on guided game drives or possibly from up high in a balloon (at a supplement) and whichever method is experienced, our guests leave transformed for a lifetime with unforgettable memories and stories to share.
