Windhoek’s historic culture spills over into modern day, running through the city and into suburban slums. A guided township tour through Katutura gives insight into life living in the poorer areas of Windhoek. A safe daytime view of the area allows you to enjoy a lively atmosphere and friendly interaction with locals.
On the corner of Windhoek’s main street, Zoo Park, is a stretch of public space where leisure and recreation activities take place. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll, fun on the playground or entertainment provided by the open-air theatre.

Lüderitz has a mild desert climate with a minimum temperature 10°C and maximum temperature of about 36°C.
When to Go
The best time to be in Windhoek is between May and September. The weather is cool and dry. If you go between November and March the summer is scorching hot, with frequent heavy afternoon rain showers.
Getting There & Getting Around
Getting To Windhoek
Flights are available daily departing Cape Town and Johannesburg as well as twice-weekly flights to and from London and Frankfurt arriving at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport.
There are buses departing Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. These buses take you to Windhoek’s main bus station run by Intercape Mainliner.
Getting Around Windhoek
The easiest way to get around Windhoek is by hired car.
If you are keen to see tourist destinations outside of Windhoek, like Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Ethosa National Park, The Desert Express (luxury tourist train) will get you there.

Hi Dolores! That is absolutely not true, you can wear anything you want to in Namibia! It is, however, advised that you wear earth-toned colours when on a safari as to not aggravate the animals.
