Win the African safari experience of a lifetime!

Ever wanted to travel in Africa? Maybe you're already here and there's a trip you've been mulling over and have a burning desire to embark upon?

Well we'd love to hear about it, and if you're our lucky winner, you'll be handsomely rewarded for your efforts…

To mark the launch of DiscoverAfrica.com we are giving away the African travel experience of a lifetime to any blogger, travel writer, Flickr user, YouTuber or general interweb user with the best submission as described below.

The purpose of the competition is to create as much positive buzz as possible around your entry. To do this you're going to have to have a genuine interest in, or love for Africa - we'd like to see that come through in your entry.

There are 3 ways to enter:

  1. Write a blog post about your dream trip within Africa in a minimum of 100 words.
  2. Post an African image to flickr and describe your ideal trip within Africa in a minimum of 100 words.
  3. Submit a video explaining your dream African trip to youtube and describe it in a minimum of 100 words.

Entry requirements

  1. The writing must be your own original work.
  2. If you do choose to use imagery/video that is not your own, you must respect the usage rights of the work.
  3. The description of your dream trip must be a minimum of 100 words.
  4. You must include a link to DiscoverAfrica.com in your submission.
  5. You must submit the URL of your blog post, flickr photo or youtube video on our competition entry form before 12h00 on Tues 21 April Fri 31 July 2009, GMT+2.

Who will win?

The winner will be the person that:

  1. Proposes the best trip (as judged by DiscoverAfrica.com) and...
  2. Generates the most comments on the entry page - come up with something inspiring, then get as many people as you can to talk about it.

A Luxury African Safari

Take a friend along to experience Africa in style at a Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge in the Kruger Park, South Africa. This prize is valued at R15,000. Includes 2-nights accommodation for two people sharing, 3 meals a day, 2 safari activities a day, transfers to and from Johannesburg International Airport. Adventure Overland Safari

Experience non-stop adventure on this 21-day adventure overland safari from Cape Town to Victoria Falls. This prize is valued at R15,000. Competition Terms & Conditions

1. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 years of age.

2. To qualify for the competition, you need to either:

  • Write a blog post about your dream trip within Africa in a minimum of 100 words.
  • Post an African image to flickr and describe your ideal trip within Africa in a minimum of 100 words.
  • Submit a video explaining your dream African trip to youtube and describe it in a minimum of 100 words.

3. The written part of your entry must:

  • Be your own original work.
  • Be a minimum of 100 words.
  • Include a link to DiscoverAfrica.com

4.The link to must be a working, valid hyperlink that resolves to any page on the DiscoverAfrica.com website. The link may not have the “nofollow” attribute.

5. Entries posted on splogs (spam blogs), or blogs created solely for the purpose of entering this competition will not be accepted. We are looking for real entries, on real blogs, from real people, that want to go on a REAL trip in Africa!

6. Entries must be written in English, or any language that can be translated using Google Translate.

7. A maximum of 3 entries may be submitted per person, provided that each entry differs in content, from one another.

8. The winner will be the person that: proposes the best trip and inspires the most comments on their entry page. Comments must be genuine, positive comments. They can’t be submitted by you. They must not be spam comments.

9. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

11. The winner of the prize will be notified directly by email.

12. The winner will also be announced:

  • In writing on DiscoverAfrica.com.
  • By email to all people that entered the competition.
  • By means of a YouTube video posted on DiscoverAfrica.com

13. The competition closes at 12h00 on Tues 21 April Fri 31 July 2009 (GMT +2).

14. The winner will be announced at 12h00 on Tues 21 April Monday 3 August 2009 (GMT +2).

15. Claiming of the prize is subject to availability on the dates that the winner wishes to travel.

16. The prize is non-transferable.
