What to Expect: Safaris in Africa

Safaris in Africa are safe. They are safe because they are well planned and are run by trained professionals. Morning safari’s happen between 6 am and 8 am while Africa is still waking up. Guides take you to the best spots to suit your wildlife and vegetation viewing requests. After returning from your morning game drive, you tuck into a hearty breakfast. Once you’ve eaten, you have ‘free-time’. Going on an unguided walk into the bush is strongly discouraged. The safety of the lodge offers an opportunity to relax, reflect and enjoy Africa! Lunch is usually a delicious buffet spread to be enjoyed before a leisurely siesta or cool-down swim. An afternoon game drive or walk allows you to search for wildlife you haven’t seen yet, or follow a pride or herd spotted earlier. Dinner time is usually around 07:30, kicking off your feast with aperitifs around the campfire, followed by a delicious dinner at your lodge restaurant. After dinner it’s time to wind down. Depending on your lodge, camp and guide, you may get to the opportunity to go on a night game drive and get a lesson about the African stars. Once you return to your lodge, you fall asleep to the whispers of the wild. In the morning take a peek outside your front door and see if you can spot footprints of curious wildlife who have passed through your site over night… a common eventuality on safaris in Africa.
