Kruger National Park Wildlife Self Drive Holiday

Day 1 - Johannesburg - Pretoria

After arriving at Johannesburg airport, where you can pick up your rental vehicle. The first snippet of the journey takes you from Johannesburg to Pretoria. Spend the day at your leisure, experiencing the culture, history and people of the area. A city tour is highly recommended.

Overnight at Premier Hotel Pretoria (Deluxe Room) or similar/alternative hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 2-3 - Pretoria - Phalaborwa

Today you drive from Pretoria to Phalaborwa, where your exploration of the area's nature and wildlife begins.

A variety of optional activities await you at the Kruger National Park which include:

• See what you can spot on an evening safari and enjoy a typical South African 'braai' in the bush, while listening to the sounds of the wild.
• Spend a whole day on safari discovering Kruger National Park’s hotspots and famous Big 5.
• Cruise down the river on a waterbased game viewing adventure.

Overnight at Sefapane Lodge & Safaris (Standard Rondavel) or similar/alternative hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 4-6 - Phalaborwa - Hazyview

From Phalaborwa you drive to Hazyview. Hazyview is a small farming town renowned for its banana industry. The town is located just a short drive from Kruger National Park, where you can enjoy more game viewing.

The Panorama Route is best known for its magnificent landscapes and its cultural heritage and is host to a variety of attractions and activities which can be enjoyed over the next few days.

A stop at Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, which is home to a spectacular variety of wildlife and birdlife, is a must. Discover the waterfalls at Graskop and Sabie, the Echo Caves that speak of Africa’s powerful tribes or the Pilgrim’s Rest once home to the early gold prospectors. 

Overnight at Hippo Hollow Country Estate (Standard Room) or similar/alternative hotel.

Day 7 - Hazyview - The Kruger National Park - Johannesburg

Along the route back to Johannesburg why not stop at Sudwala Caves? These caves are the oldest known caves in the world, formed over 3000 million years, capturing in stone a time when warm shallow in-land seas covered the area.

Back in Johannesburg you return your rental vehicle and finish off the tour with great memories in check.
