Cape Winelands Self Drive Holiday

If you love good food and great wine, then this holiday is for you. With plenty of free time scheduled, you have the choice of going at a slower pace - sampling wines at the various wine farms - or partaking in the area's adventure activities like mountain biking, horse-riding, going a shark diving tour or playing a round of golf at one of the Cape's prestigious golf courses. This holiday is yours to make.

Day 1 - Paarl

Pick up a rental car from the airport and drive to the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Check in at Grande Roche in Paarl and receive your complimentary copy of the John Platter Wine Guide of South African Wines. The afternoon will be spent at a private wine tasting with Grande Roche's sommelier where you will be introduced to the secrets of wine making. A special four course gourmet dinner for two will be served in Bosman's Restaurant this evening.

Day 2 - Paarl

Awake refreshed and well-rested. Enjoy a sparkling wine and oyster buffet breakfast at the hotel, before departing for a full-day, guided, private winelands tour of Paarl and Stellenbosch, tailor-made to your requirements. You will visit a minimum of two estates, meet the winemaker or one of his team members and get first hand information about the wine and the farm. Upon returning to your hotel, late afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to freshen up. Ask the concierge to recommend one of Paarl's local favourite restaurants for an evening of pleasant dining.

Day 3-5 - Franschhoek

After breakfast, you will check-out. Your transfer will meet you in the hotel lobby to drive you along breath-taking views to your next location in the Cape Winelands: Franschhoek. En route, you will stop at Fairview Wine Estate for lunch, famous for its wide selection of cheeses. Check in at The Last Word Franschoek. Whilst here, you have the choice of relaxing by the pool, taking leisurely walks in the vineyards, visiting (or re-visiting!) the region's wine estates, cheese-tastings, chocolate-tastings or book adventure activities like mountain biking or horseback rides. The area has a number of award winning golf courses in the vicinity, if you wish to play 9 or 18-holes. You can book these activties in advance, or decide once you are on holiday.

Day 6 - Franschhoek

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out. Your driver will transfer you back to Cape Town Airport, or to your hotel in Cape Town.
