Getting There & Getting Around

Getting To Sun City

The easiest way to get into Sun City is to take a transfer from OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport. These shuttles run every three hours, and while they are not as cheap as self-drive, they will ensure that you get there quickly, easily and don't have to worry about fiddling with Sun City Maps.

However, self-drive is another option for those wanting to drive in from Johannesburg. Cars can be hired from the airport, with a range of rates available. Be sure to arm yourself with a Sun City map before tackling the area. The same principle goes for any destination you are not familiar with.

Getting Around Sun City

While the resort is fairly expansive, walking can be an option for those who feel up to it. Otherwise, there is a train system (funicular) running through the resort, so visitors can easily hop on and hop off at their chosen destinations within the resort.

Sun City Tips : Know Before You Go

ATMs:
There are ATMs at the airport, and around the resort.

Forex/Money:
Money can be exchanged at the airport. It is best to be prepared to ensure that you won’t have any problems once you enter the resort.

Credit/Debit cards:
Most of the hotels, restaurants and casinos accept credit and debit cards.

Internet availability:
The OR Tambo airport plus many hotels and coffee shops have WiFi access.

Drinking water:
Water is safe to drink from the tap, although bottled water is available when you travel to Sun City.

Hospitals & Medical:
There are trained lifeguards on duty throughout the water park, and the visitors’ centre may have some first aid. With that said, remember that Sun City is a resort – stay safe and healthy to avoid the need for medical attention.
