South Africa safaris offer an opportunity to view the abundance of wildlife and birdlife that can be found across the varied natural environments within the country. This park is considered one of the largest game reserves in the world, and is also home to Africa’s Big 5.
In addition to the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard), you will also be able to see a range of wildlife and bird species. If you are lucky, you may even witness a big cat on a hunt, or elephants making their way to the waterhole at dusk or even a young antelope making its first hesitant steps on shaky legs.
A typical luxury safari in South Africa includes game drives in the morning as well as evening, which allows for greater chances to view wildlife during the safari. Bush walks can also be enjoyed on some safaris, allowing you to track wildlife by foot as you learn more about South Africa’s animals, birds and environment. The day usually ends with dinner around the campfire, where stories of the day’s events can be swapped with fellow travellers.
