Why Visit Selinda?

Selinda reserve is located between the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park in Botswana. The reserve has two permanent lodges and two fly camps and the ideal location for game viewing. Game-drives in provide visitors with a great sense of Africa and its animals. The area is renowned for heards of elephant and lions, leopard, cheetah and giraffe can also be seen here.

    Chobe National Park is one of the largest games concentration in Africa. The park is famous for the huge herds of elephant and buffalo, in addition there are big numbers of hippopotamus, giraffe, kudu and impala and more than 250 species of birds have been recorded.There is stunning birdlife and vegetation, which makes for breathtaking photography on a Botswana safari.

    When to Go

    Botswana is mostly subtropical, but varies with altitude and experiences extremes in both temperature and weather. It has poor and erratic rainfall.

    Maun is the primary international link with Botswana via Johannesburg and Harare and secondary links through Gabarone, Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam

    Light aircraft charters are a common feature of safaris in Botswana, Maun and Kasane are the main internal hubs, with most of the camps having their own airstrips.

    Selinda Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs:
    These are only found at airports, so make sure to withdraw whatever money you need as soon as you land.

    Forex/Money:
    Foreign exchange facilities are found at the airports, but there are no banks or facilities within the park itself.

    Credit/Debit cards:
    Some lodges may accept credit or debit cards, but many others may not. To be safe, plan ahead and withdraw what you need when you have access to an ATM.

    Internet availability:
    Some lodges may have WiFi, and airports will have WiFi, but do not expect this to be a given at most lodges within the park.

    Drinking water:
    Water is generally not contaminated, but to be safe it is best to stick to bottled water to be sure that you are getting clean, tasty water.
