    Situated in a remote corner of Kruger National Park, Pafuri is considered one of premier safari destinations in South Africa. Here you will be able to see all of the Big Five, with lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino, along with plenty of other game.

    There are many things to see and do in the Pafuri, ranging from game drives to birding, bush walks, star gazing, game tracking and more. Photographic opportunities also abound, with many chances to capture the spectacular scenery or even a lion stalking prey at dusk if the moment is right.

    With a small number of five-star safari lodges and tented camps within the reserve, you will be able to enjoy a premier safari experience that is far less busy and frantic than the main Kruger Park.     Pafuri Rivercamp borders Kruger National Park’s Pafuri Gate.

    As Pafuri is blessed with sunshine on most days, it will suit everybody except for periods when it can be extremely hot.  Rainfall can be expected in mid summer which for South Africans means December January and February.

    Getting To Pafuri

    There are three airports in the Kruger National Park area, which include Phalaborwa Airport for the northern section; Hoedspruit Airport for the central region and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport or OR Tambo International Airport JHB for the southern region.

    OR Tambo and Kruger Mpumalanga offer international flights, with a number of local and international airlines running regular flights. Shuttles or transfers are done by 4x4 vehicles or small plane.

    Getting Around Pafuri

    Road travel offers the best way to get around Pafuri, and 4x4 vehicles are highly advised to navigate the rough roads.

    Pafuri Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs:
    These are only found at airports, so make sure to withdraw whatever money you need as soon as you land.

    Forex/Money:
    Foreign exchange facilities are found at the airports, but there are no banks or facilities within the park itself.

    Credit/Debit cards:
    Credit or debit cards may be accepted at the camp. To be safe, plan ahead and withdraw what you need when you have access to an ATM.

    Internet availability:
    Airports will have WiFi, but at camp you may not find internet facilities.
