    Most international flights to/from Mozambique use Maputo's airport. LAM, TAP, SAA and 1time all operate flights into the city.

    One can drive to Maputo. The highway from Johannesburg to Maputo is very good. On the Mozambican side, just follow the EN4 for a 100 km or so to reach Maputo.

    Getting Around Maputo

    Taxis can be found in many cities throughout the country.

    A very inexpensive way to get around Maputo is by mini-bus or "Chapa." They have routes that criss-cross the city.

    Travellers can also walk the centre of the city by day. We suggest you steer clear of the central business district at night. 

    Maputo Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs:
    There is 24-hour ATMs all over town. The ATMs accept all major credit cards. Choose an ATM located in the most secure area possible. Use ATMs at places such as Game and Super Mares.

    Forex/Money:
    Forex services are limited to the airport. We advise you take all local currencies with before you travel. You can draw money at BCI banks in Maputo, which are located all over the city.

    Credit/Debit cards:
    Credit cards aren't always accepted. Most upmarket lodges have credit and debit card facilities.

    Internet availability: 
    Internet is readily available in Maputo, with many internet cafes and all major hotels boasting internet access.

    Drinking water: 
    Travellers are advised to boil the tap water before drinking it, or to buy mineral water. Tap water can safely be used for showering and brushing your teeth. All resorts provide guests with bottled water.
