Why Visit Linyanti Concession?

Linyanti Concession is a sprawling private reserve on the western boundary of Chobe National Park in Botswana. The area is most famous for its large number of elephant, as well as its health predator concentration, in particular lion and hyena. Linyanti was featured in the National Geographic film Eternal Enemies.

    A game drive through Linyanti Concession allows you to take in some of the sights that have made the region famous on shows such as National Geographic’s Eternal Enemies. This film focused on the intense competition between lion and hyena, who battle for carcasses during every kill made by lions.

    The area is also famous for its large number of elephants, who can be seen in abundance when doing an air flight over the concession. Due to the large number of water sources, the area is fairly lush, which further adds to the prolific forms of life within the reserve.

    A vast, remote haven for an abundance of wildlife and birdlife, Linyanti Concession spans across endless plains and woodland regions that are teeming with bird and wildlife. Four of the Big Five (elephant, leopard, lion and buffalo) can be found along with many other predators and grazing wildlife.

    Safaris offer the best way to explore the Linyanti Concession, with other activities such as birding and guided bush walks also on offer. The lush waterways and varied habitats ensure plenty of variety for the flora and fauna found within Linyanti. 

    Photographic opportunities are excellent here, with the spectacular backdrop of an African sunset boasting outstanding views of free roaming wildlife.

    Linyanti Concession temperatures range from around 27°C in the dry season to 40°C in the rainy season. 

    When to Go

    The hot, dry season is best for game viewing, as this is when hoards of game flocks to waterholes to drink.

    Birding is excellent during the rainy season however, with a startling number of species to be seen across the reserve.  

    Getting There & Getting Around

    Getting into Linyanti Concession can be done by road or by light aircraft.

    There are two main airstrips in the concession. One is on the river's floodplain near to King's Pool (GPS:KINAIR), and the other is in the bush between Duma Tau and Savuti Camp (GPS:DUMAIR). 

    Getting Around Linyanti Concession

    Safari vehicles are the best way to get around Linyanti Concession. As the area is unfenced and remote, game wanders freely throughout the reserve. It is very dangerous to walk around alone, especially at night. 

    Linyanti Concession Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs/Money:
    There are no banks or any facilities within Linyanti, as this is a remote area in the wilds of Botswana. Be prepared and withdraw cash when you enter Botswana via one of the airports, or at the nearest rest-stop on route to Linyanti, such as Kasane.

    Internet availability:
    You will not find much in the way of internet at Linyanti, while some game lodges may offer WiFi.

    Drinking water:
    Generally speaking, it is best to stick to bottled water to be safe.

    Hospitals & Medical:
    The area is very remote, with not much in the way of healthcare facilities. Stay safe during your stay, and remember to take your malaria medication.
