    The bustling tourist town of Kasane is situated in Botswana, near the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers. This prime location makes it a popular stop-over for visitors en route to the various attractions found within Botswana and its neighbouring countries.

    The town has a garage, a few shops, various campsites, guest houses and safari lodges and banks. This means that you can stock up on supplies before heading out for your safari, day trip or longer tour. The airport is situated just 4km out of town, making air travel very easy between Kasane and other destinations.

    While Kasane is essential a rest stop, the town is also a bustling hub for tourism within Botswana and the greater Caprivi Strip. This area borders Botswana with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, making it an excellent stop for those wanting to enjoy Big Five safaris in the heart of Africa.

    Some of things to do in Kasane and surrounds include Kasane hot springs, boat safaris in the Okavango Delta, birding at Sedudu Island on the Chobe River, picnics and game spotting at Kasane Rapids and the old hollow baobab tree in the town, which is said to once house prisoners in its hollowed out trunk.

    For those wanting to explore further, Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park and other highlights can easily be accessed via Kasane.

    Each season in Botswana brings new opportunities for birding and wildlife. The dry summers are ideal for game viewing, as game can be easily spotted at numerous waterholes. Birding is excellent in the rainy season, with young wildlife to be seen in spring.

    Kasane Airport is situated a few km from the town, while self-drive and overland tours are also a good option to explore the surrounding landscapes of Botswana.

    While the town itself can easily be explored by foot, you will want to be able to explore the surrounding Chobe area. Self-drive is the best way to explore at leisure. If you plan to visit Chobe National Park, you will need a sturdy safari vehicle however as wildlife roams freely throughout the reserve.

    Kasane Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs/Money:
    There are a few banks with ATMs and foreign exchange available in town and at the Kasane Airport. Most lodges take credit and debit card, but some of the small stores may not have these facilities.

    Internet availability:
    Some lodges offer WiFi, with internet facilities available at the airport too. You will be too busy to want to spend time online however, with plenty to see and do within the area.

    Drinking water:
    It is safest to stick to bottled water, which is readily available at the stores within town.

    Hospitals & Medical:
    There are very rudimental healthcare facilities in Kasane, and as much of the surrounding regions are remote game viewing areas, it is a good idea to stay safe and healthy. You will need to take malaria medication when visiting this part of Botswana
