Kalk Bay Overview
What makes Kalk Bay unique is its laid-back approach. On a typical Saturday morning, locals can be found enjoying freshly baked goods at spots such as Olympia Café, while shops open their doors for those who wish to browse or do a spot of shopping. Lunchtime onwards is when the restaurants start to fill up. Classic favourites such as the Brass Bell, Polana, Harbour House and Cape to Cuba are ideally situated to allow the best views, with plenty of atmosphere – especially on weekends.
Many locals have made their home in Kalk Bay, choosing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a more relaxed pace of life. While the nightlife may not be as frenetic as the Cape Town city centre, the charm and friendliness of Kalk Bay makes it one of the Cape’s hidden gems – a place where time ceases to exist, and life continues each day without any rush.
