Imbali Concession Overview
Imbali Concession is home to over 1,200 species of animals, including Africa’s Big Five (lion, elephant,leopard and buffalo). The reserve is also abundant in birdlife, with plenty of species to see throughout the rich habitats of Imbali.
There are many things to see and do in the Imbali Concession, ranging from game drives to birding, bush walks, star gazing, cultural village visits, traditional local dancers, game tracking and more. Photographic opportunities also abound, with many chances to capture the spectacular scenery or even a lion stalking prey at dusk if the moment is right.
With a number of safari lodges and tented camps within the reserve, you will be able to enjoy a world-class safari experience that is far less busy and frantic as the main Kruger Park. With a focus on environmental education and eco-tourism, many of the lodges within Imbali also offer a cultural experience to teach you more about the Tsonga people who call the region home.

Although you can spot many game in the Kruger National Park, a night safari gives a completely different perspective of the park. You get to see nocturnal animals, such as leopard and hyenas.
In addition to its large number of animals, the Imbali Consession is also the place to spot a range of very interesting bird species including eagles, spoonbills, storks, rollers, owls and cormorants.

It gets very hot in summer (October through to March), with temperatures rising to 27ºC (80.6 ºF) and sometimes reaching temperatures in the mid 30ºs Celsius (mid-90s ºF).

Getting To Imbali Concession
There are three airports in the Kruger National Park area, which include Phalaborwa Airport for the northern section; Hoedspruit Airport for the central region and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport or OR Tambo International Airport JHB for the southern region.
OR Tambo and Kruger Mpumalanga offer international flights, with a number of local and international airlines running regular flights. Shuttles or transfers are done by 4x4 vehicles or small plane.
