As visitors need to pay an entry fee to visit Cape Point, the area is largely unspoiled. This ensures a quiet, peaceful destination that is ideal for rest and relaxation.

    There are a few holiday houses within the reserve, which for the most part are used by locals during holidays or the odd weekend. This further adds to the sense of tranquillity within Cape Point, making it the ideal spot to escape the bustle of the city.

Those who enjoy a more relaxed pace of life can enjoy the beautiful beaches that lie through the region. Said to the place where two oceans meet, the waters here include the chilly Atlantic Ocean as well as the warmer Indian Ocean. Sightseeing offers the chance to explore some of the historical landmarks found at Cape Point, including the old lighthouse that dates back many years. Photographers will have plenty of material to work with, from the deep blue seas with waves crashing into shore to the rich vegetation that covers much of the area.

    When to Go

    With a mild climate, Cape Point is ideal to visit any time of year, much like the rest of the Cape. Summers are hot and dry, running from November to February. Autumns runs between March and May, while winters can be on the wet and chilly side, running from June to July. Spring runs from September to October, and this is one of the best times to visit Cape Point. Wildflowers are in full bloom, turning the reserve into a carpet of fragrant, vibrant flowers.

    The best way to get into Cape Point is by car. The route that leads into the reserve offers amazing views of the mountain and ocean, and is especially memorable for those who have not yet explored the Cape in full. Entry fees are charged to enter Cape Point, but these fees are not too pricey.

    As Cape Point is fairly large, car travel offers the most convenient way to get around the reserve. Biking is also a great way to explore selected areas, while walking can be done for shorter distances. 

    Cape Point Tips : Know Before You Go

    ATMs/Currency/Money: there are no banks or ATMs at Cape Point itself, so it is best to withdraw cash in Cape Town before leaving for the reserve.

    Internet Availability: with no internet access, visitors will be able to unplug and enjoy the views.

    Drinking Water: bottled water is the easiest option as taps may not be available on hikes and walks.

    Hospitals & Medical: there are hospitals and other facilities in Cape Town just under half an hour away from Cape Point.

    Visa Requirements: most travellers do not require a visa to enter South Africa.
