Cango Caves Overview
Over 20 million years ago, this 24km limestone band with cracks and fissures formed in the ridge. The water percolated into the fissures, then gradually dissolved limestone and formed the incredible formations that we see today. When they opened the cave entrance, the water and air were emptied, which left the chambers silent. Water, time and simple chemistry have combined, over hundreds of thousands of years, to create a magic castle of carved caverns that is well worth a visit. These beautiful caves are among the great natural wonders of the world.
