Today is World Animal Day and it marks the start of International Animal Week. All the animals, from butterflies and birds to elephants and cats form part of the wealth of animal life in South Africa and should be celebrated on this day.
International Animal Week runs until 10 October and is solely devoted to animals. The whole purpose is to draw attention to those creatures that can’t defend themselves against the cruelty of humans.
It is very worrying that each day more and more animals worldwide are treated badly.

According to South Africa Online, SPCAs throughout South Africa will be participating. The SPCA is the biggest / strongest local Animal Welfare Organisation in South Africa to deal with National Issues.
The public are asked to approach SPCAs in their area to find out what they’re organising and to join in to make this year’s celebrations memorable. Contact details of all the SPCAs in South Africa can be found here.
"Many people just can't afford to look after their pets," said SPCA CEO Allan Perrins. Perrins told Die Burger that people tend to neglect their pets when they don't know better.
The SPCA movement cares for, protects and works with all species of animals.
Be part of the International Animal Week in any way you can.
