Owned and run by the fifth generation of the Weeks family, Reed Valley Inn is a 4-star country manor that provides luxurious accommodation in the Amakhala Game Reserve. This part of the Eastern Cape was once almost entirely wild, and the early Weeks owners of Reed Valley purchased the property in 1898, a time when lion, leopard and other big game roamed freely.
A game relocation project has restored the area to its former glory, allowing guests to enjoy game viewing from the gracious setting of a restored manor house.
The historic farmhouse houses four en-suite rooms, catering to families, friends, couples and other travel groups. Each room is bedecked with décor elements that pay tribute to the manor’s history, while modern luxuries ensure a memorable stay. Facilities within the main lodge include a swimming pool, dining areas, gardens and a traditional pub.
Location
Reed Valley Inn is situated in the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve, which lies close to Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. The reserve is home to a large number of wildlife species, with antelope, lion, elephant and other game to be seen on game drives. Bird life is equally rich, with many endemic and migratory species found across the diverse habitats.
