Camp Shawu gets its namesake from one of the most famous of the African elephants; the magnificent ‘Shawu' bull, who roamed the valley surrounds for sixty years. Shawu, the Elephant had the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa’s history, and accordingly commanded respect and admiration from all who came into contact with him.

Camp Shawu is a 15 000 hectares private concession game lodge that is situated in the south-eastern section of the Kruger National Park, which is enclosed by the perennial Crocodile River to the south and Mozambique to the east.

The small and intimate camp features elegant accommodation in five luxury twin rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom; accommodating ten guests all in all. Each room consists of authentic buffalo dung walls, leather furniture, wood, rich textiles, fire places, ceiling fans and private decks - all of which overlook the Mpanamana Dam, exhibiting a landscaped masterpiece.
